ASK US ANYTHING: HALLOWEEN TIPS & TRICKS

With Halloween fast approaching, it's easy to get caught up in the candy craze, whether at home, work, or with friends. But don't worry, you can still enjoy the festivities without giving up on your healthy lifestyle. This week, discover how to enhance your trick-or-treating experience while maintaining good nutrition habits.

Eat well-balanced meals throughout the day: Skipping lunch to “save up” for candy later might sound like a good idea, but it ultimately backfires. The hungrier you get, the more likely you are to overeat once those sweets are in front of you. By keeping your meals regular and balanced, you’ll be more in control when it's time to enjoy those Halloween goodies. 💡Pro tip: fill your plate with lots of green veggies, a source of protein, and a healthy fat at most meals. Check out OUR FOURTH DROP: Fiber up 🥬 for a day’s worth of meal ideas.

Focus on your favorites and consider serving size: You don’t have to restrict and avoid candy entirely—after all, Halloween is all about fun. But, a simple way to stay mindful is to choose single-serving mini sizes and focus on your absolute favorites. That way, you can enjoy what you love most without feeling like you need to try everything in the candy bowl. If you're looking for healthier options, check out the list below👇🏻.

Walk it out: Halloween can be a fun way to get in extra movement outside your normal exercise routine. Whether walking around with kids, pumpkin picking, or heading for a night out, this is a great opportunity to rack up some steps and enjoy the fresh air. Did you know that 11 minutes of brisk walking daily (75 minutes weekly) can lower your risk for heart disease, cancer, and early death?

Leave the past in the past: If you do indulge a bit more than you’d planned, don’t stress about it. What’s important is to remove any guilt and not let it throw off the rest of your week. Enjoy your sweets, move on, and return to your regularly scheduled eating plan ASAP (which includes eating breakfast the next morning)! And consider donating any extra candy to a local or national charity like Treats for Troops.
